ParticipantSome forums have rules about promoting products and services. I was just trying to be polite.

ParticipantYou’d be surprised by how many of the creditors DO dispute things…
I literally opened a Linens ‘n Things account FOUR years ago after buying a new townhouse.
I was traveling heavily for work, hadnt yet set it up in my bill pay, and paid it ONE day late. It is still listed as a “30 day late” on my credit report, and they refuse to delete it.
I will never shop there again because of this. It’s hard to say how many thousands of $$$ they have lost, as well as my good will as a (former) regular customer. I will shop anywhere but LNT.
Anyway, my point is that disputing is not that easy. But, good luck!

ParticipantI still believe if you are willing to roll up your sleeves, invest in a credit monitoring service (Costco offers an excellent service that provides scores and reports from the 3 bureaus), and start writing letters, it’s worth it.
Digging around in my credit reports was interesting. There were so MANY inaccuracies. Some of my ex-husbands active credit accounts were still on my report (we were divorced NINE years ago), so I had them taken off.
However, if you have the money, a reputable service might be the way to go if you’re too busy to deal with it yourself.
