ParticipantNot to worry…Call me crazy, but I’m not that nervous. I think the REO that we’re buying is unique and on a nice, big (almost) 1/2 acre lot with a pool and a fair amount of privacy.
We hope to stay in the house for 7-10 yrs minimum – provided that Temecula and the surrounding area doesnt implode by then. We both work in the area, so we won’t be commuting issue that many do.
If I were buying a cheaply built McMansion-pretending-to-be-a hacienda/chateau on a tiny-lots in/around Hwy 79, I’d be SCARED. I think that whole area is a serious candidate for Section 8 housing/heavy rental traffic some day.
Btw, that craig’s list post was kind of funny…in a sad, sorta way.
Back to listening to Poncho Sanchez…who’s comin’ to the Belly Up soon! Yay!

ParticipantMan cave, eh? I had a guy friend who turned his basement (back east) into his “Male Bondatorium” with multiple computer workstations (loaded with Powerpoints that featured various salacious images of scantily clad – or unclad – women), playstations, a pool table, hot tub, full bath, and mini kitchen. When we went to visit it was tough to pry my husband out of there. He was so envious.
My husband has spoken dreamily about having a workshop filled with tools that I’ve never even heard of.
He works at least 60 hours a week, and I have quizzed him about what he would do in a “workshop.” I have never seen him initiate any “projects” apart from installing blinds, shelves or minor repairs. I dont think he honestly knows. But there is something very alluring about the workshop concept for him…
Unfortunately, workshops are hard to come by in Temecula tract housing. So, he seems to be OK with a three-car garage….

ParticipantHi TG,
I’ve never watched The Wire, but you are probably the 57th person to recommend it. Det. Stabler is a little on the geeky side, but that’s my type.
What is it with men and GARAGES? When we look at homes, my husband BEELINES for the damn garage to check it out. It’s like he could care less about the rest of the house. A 4 car garage would make his heart race, too. He looks at garages and gets a faraway look in his eyes as he talks about epoxy floors, storage systems and workbenches. It’s odd.
Maybe the garage is the male equivalent of a woman’s Giant Walk-in Closet with an Imelda-sized shoe storage system?
Sorry. Didnt realize the house was a short. I just saw the EIGHT bedrooms and was amazed.
