ParticipantJim Jones killed 914 people with some koolaid. The point is, it is going to be very hard to do anything meainingful to stop these types of killings. Deep down in the mind is a hard place to reach.

Win or lose, right or wrong, Norv’s not gonna have a problem with retirement.
So I wouldn’t mind being him.
Ha, I can see it now, skip to year 2015- Coach flu goes to Whole Foods to buy organic veggies, 2 Charger fans see him pull into parking lot, first they pop his car tires, then following Coach flu into store telling him how much he sucked. flu fires back, “yea but I got lots of money”, fans fire back “you still suck”. Coach flu skips the veggies and heads to Bevmo.

Participant
Wow…he really said that they day of his accident????
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, desmond. :(
Read this on what he said:

Some things bring you back to reality on what is important. I am having a Revelation with this and am actually happy for Frank and his family now. He had a strong belief, stronger than most, much stronger than mine and he lives on.
Thank you for your kind words. I am soul searching again.

Participant

The argument about using AK 47’s to fight the government is ludicrous.
Why? Do you really believe “it can’t happen here”?
No offense, but that’s incredibly naive.
but to argue for the utility of semi-automatics in our society on that point is bordering on clinical paranoia.
oc,
Your continued arguements about the “semi-automatic” gun are just what the other side wants to hear. Do you realize that probably 95% of all guns sold today are semi-automatics? I was trying to help educate you. At least say “Assault Weapon”. Forget about Semi-Automatics & you will at least sound like you know what you are talking about……desmond
ParticipantFrank passed away today, he never awoke from his accident. Frank was in a motorcycle accident on the 210 freeway, he was hit by a car that drifted into the carpool lane. This is a quote from Frank from his radio show that very day
“I mean look, you guys know I ride a motorcycle don’t you? So, at any moment, especially with the idiot people who cross the diamond lane into my lane, alright, without any blinkers, not that I’m angry about it, but at any minute I could be spread out all over the 210 (Freeway), but that’s not me, that’s my body parts. That key distinction under-girds the entire Judeo Christian worldview and also your pursuit of reality.”
Make sure to enjoy life.

Participantoc,
I see you have passion but you just do not understand guns, your questions lack sense. Not your fault, you probably have not been around guns (?). Read my post again for clarification. It really does not matter whether it is a rifle or a pistol, (the V. Tech guy used pistols) either gun can fire hi powered rounds so fast you would think it was an automatic. Small 10-15 round clips can be discharged and loaded that the shooting never stops. You are probably thinking about the Bolt-Action gun that requires repeated motions to shoot one bullet, they still make those for target shooting and hunting but the popularity for the Military type gun has skyrocketed. Banning certain guns will do nothing, there are just to many other type of guns with the same shooting power.

ParticipantFor clarification:
Rifles or pistols can be Semiautomatic or Automatic
Semi-Automatic gun:
You must pull the trigger to fire one round (bullet), you then must then release the trigger and pull it again to fire the next round. (most semiautomatic guns will reload automatically but again you must pull the trigger to fire)
Automatic Gun: (Machine Gun)
You can pull the trigger and hold it and the gun will fire rounds (bullets) until you release the trigger.
All Automatic guns are ILLEGAL. Semi-automatic guns are legal. The “assault weapons used in these killings have been “Semi-Automatic”, but with technology these weapons can fire so fast by pulling the trigger quickly and the rounds (bullets) are so hi-powered they are deadly.
Semiautomatic guns can be converted to automatic but it is ILLEGAL and the ATF has a very high priority to stop possesion of Automatic Weapons.Another topic is “Capacity” of rounds (bullets) that these guns can hold. A seperate magazine (or clip) is used to hold rounds of ammunition. There are different sizes ranging from 10 bullets to 100 or so. Most regular purchases of magazines hold 10-15 rounds. An empty magazine can be discharged from a gun and another fully loaded magazine can be loaded in a second or two.
The kid used the 223 in the killings but had another Shotgun type assault weapon in the car.

ParticipantMakes me want to move back to within 75 miles of the stadium. I have finally gotten over the Chargers after 35+ years of aggrevation. Not firing NT & Staff 2 years ago I started to wind it down. Not firing them last year finally did it for me and I can enjoy my Sundays (Mondays & Thursdays) & really could care less about them. Go Redskins & RG3. btw, the Raiders are still worse, maybe the weightlifters on this board have a future with them……
