UCO,
The road his truck was on was dirt, when I said “one-way” I meant one-way in and the same way back to get out. I don’t think he would plan on using a road that he would have to come back the same way he went in. I saw that the truck was straight, but if you looked at the tire tracks behind the truck they burned through the snow and into dirt, so he was looing traction and buried the tires into the dirt/mud. Arizona? He knew he would have been spotted before he got to Bartsow. He is either freezing his ass off, buried in the ground hiding, dead, or in a cabin waiting for a shootout.
I pretty much nailed this one down to all but the correct house address. I would keep bragging but then everyone would wonder how the heck does Desmond know so much about this kind of situation?????
desmondParticipantDid you see how badly burned the truck was? The tires were melted and not much was left but a shell, you can’t do that by striking a match and throwing it in the cab, especially in that cold weather, not easy to do. He had to have planned that. Having a car and fleeing would be very difficult, paying everything in cash, trying to hide your identity with your picutre all over the news? If he did not have a car then that would be even harder to elude the manhunt up in that environment. Either way he is really pissing the LAPD and others off.
desmondParticipantBeck did come clean last night on a TV interview and said the women had no fault on their part and that he, (LAPD) takes full responsiblity. To late for that. Now he is going to reopen the firing case for Dorner.. Pretty shocking that they have not found him, and have you noticed not much press on the manhunt? Sounded like his truck axle broke so he must have got stuck, to evade this manhunt Dorner is like Rambo. If he was not a killer you could call him DB Dorner.

desmondParticipantHere’s another thing, you have ONE guy that is putting all law enforcement into total chaos here in LA, so can you imagine something on a larger scale? You have to be able to protect family and yourself, how you do that is your choice, just don’t try and tell others how to make that choice.

Is that a 46 on the placard on the ground? I saw three shotgun shells in yesterday’s photo, that would likely be 27 double aught buckshot. That just leaves 19 other shots to count.
The Honda Ridgeline on the news showed three shots through the front windshield this morning and air bags deployed.
Note, LA Times is saying the two women we 71 and 47.
Ok for first of all, the cop(s) that shot into that BLUE TACOMA (which is a far difference from a charcoal gray Nissan Titan) wasn’t LAPD. I believe it was Torrance Police.
How someone mistakes a Blue Toyota Tacoma for a Gray Nissan Titan is beyond me..
No worries though. The two shot will file a lawsuit, they’ll make millions off of it… The cop(s) responsible for the shooting will go on administrative leave for some time… Probably fully paid, due to union rules, and then retire with a full pension…And oh yeah, the city of torrance will pay for the bill…Or I should say the taxpayers….
I think that’s how you make money in California now…Get shot by the police (don’t get killed) have someone video tape it, and then sue…
No, it was the LAPD “protective team” at the house they were protecting that shot the Tacoma while it was delivering newspapers, the Torrance police were responding to the gunshots and they shot the other truck after that driver was told to turn around and go back up the street. I heard the Torrance PD say the Torrance officers were in “fear for their lives” that is why the smashed into the truck and shot it up, more bs.
desmondParticipant
The Police are supposedly on the lookout for a White Lexus, last seen near Barstow.
May not be a good day to drive a white car in the IE.
Dorner is in the wrong. He’s allegedly killed a person’s daughter for what he blames the father. You don’t get more wrong than that.
That said, the police actions and continued declaration of the Chief in LA saying the police opened fire on a vehicle matching the suspects vehicles description is disgusting. It’s a full size truck versus a compact truck. Plus, I’ve now heard reports that the two women are really, woman and her 7 year old daughter.
I heard the news this morning mention that Anderson Cooper supposedly said there are scenes on the DVD he was mailed that appears to support Dorner’s claim that the suspect was kicked.
And just remember, due to the Peace Officer Bill of Rights, you don’t have the right to know anything they determine of the alleged events in regards to the officers.
Maybe we need to add a poll, are you more concerned about getting injured by Dorner or are you more concerned about getting injured by police reaction.
I am and always have been much more concerened with the police. I am now driving the truck I bought for my son that he no longer wants, a blue Tacoma TRD, I did not drive it yesterday.

desmondParticipant

Why would you burn the truck? It only calls attention to it. I really think now he is going by the seat of his pants, I looked at the tracks of his truck from the tv and because it is not a 4×4 it looks like he got stuck. He probably hiked up the hill away from homes and will have to bivouac for the night. A freezing cold storm is on that mountain now, he won’t go far, to steep, high altitude, and he does not look in that good of shape. If I lived up there I would be awake all night and ready to defend myself.
I don’t know about that. Did you look at it before it was attached to the tow truck.. or after? I saw only one image of it before the tow truck arrived and the vehicle was across the road, and would have been quite easy to drive it out from there. It almost looked like it was placed intentionally, and near an intersection. The area is mostly plowed, slushy but plowed. The problem is that his vehicle had been made.. it was no longer safe to use. Now the police are taking quite a bit of time to check the area. Typical. He did write that the way the police handle these things is predictable. So the scenarios could be..
1) Got stuck.. decided to burn truck(which does not make that much sense because it calls attention to that area -> mountain + smoke means fast response). Police and Fire come to investigate, but he hadn’t set up a blind to take some rifle shots from before relocating? Doesn’t make sense in this context. The fire created a police target rich environment. It is also unusual considering that it is so cold up there right now, and will be colder shortly.
2) Placed vehicle across road far enough away from center of town so activity will not be seen. Has another car already there (having one or more ‘backup’ vehicles would be useful if one is trying to attempt what he intends). Stealing a car would not be useful because the vehicle gets ID’d when the theft is reported. His truck is no longer useful, so burns it to attract attention while heading out in another direction. It also causes the Police to now think he is on foot. They are busy focusing on the mountain.. Remember that he did this shortly after he was being followed by police. BTW Corona is south of Big Bear.. along 15 North. I suspect that he was originally trying to mislead police to thinking he was going to Mexico. Unfortunately for this, he got made going through Corona. Now he has to make them think he is somewhere else that would take a while to ‘search’.
I find the SD Boat ‘kidnap’ attempt interesting. Why didn’t he order the owner to start it? He could also order the owner to maneuver/drive the boat as well. Starting a boat is not that hard. Particularly when it is on the end pier. Dropping of the ID in SD is also interesting (though it would not be of much use anymore anyway). Remember, this guy is military trained, probably in asymmetrical warfare. Has handled being under fire (more so than most police). Not typical police nor typical criminal.
Here’s what I think: After the shootouts in Corona and Riverside he knew he could not drive on the highways. He headed up toward the mountains. I doubt he had a car planted up there because: You don’t put a car in the mountains up a one-way road that does get use and would be seen by the forest service or passers by. The roads are very steep and icy up there, I live at the same elevation travel those roads all the time with my quad, a regular car has no chance. A camera will not capture how steep the terrain is. If the truck was sideways when you saw it that means he was spinning out and the backend was sliding to the left or right. I saw tracks burned through the snow behind his tires. I think he thought “I burning the truck and this will be my final hurrah” heading into forest. If he is up there he is freezing his ass off, won’t travel far, there really is no place to go other than to hijack a car or something else that is desparate. He is a little lucky with the weather they cannot use choppers. Or if he did have a car, never mind…….
desmondParticipantIf your a fly it can.
desmondParticipant
The angle of the burnt out truck is unusual.. it is cross-road. Almost like he wants it to be found. Winter in Big Bear is not a good time to be out in the open. I wonder if the P-U is a diversion? He might be back towards LA.. They need to check for rental vehicles, and who rented them.
From a tactical point, it would be effective for him to have police looking for a person in a large mountainous area while being back down in town. He may have also put on skin lightener or ‘light makeup’.. since they are looking for a large black man. If he was going to ‘wait them out’ in the mountains, he might have burned the truck and then start shooting the police when they get to the truck before disappearing into the mountains. Instead he was no where to be found.
desmondParticipantIt looks like the guy is now up in the Big Bear area out on foot. His burned out truck was just shown on TV. Hopefully the residents near there have adequate supply of guns and ammunition to defend themselves, not just their manpurses.

desmondParticipantI had read this article
http://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-adventure/snow-sports/Tunnel-Vision-November-2012.html
on the flight over to Kauai regarding an expert group of skiers, very knowledgable on avalanches. 3 end up dead due to an avalanche. While hiking with another couple up a steep hill near Wailua River the husband who was overweight and out of shape was really struggling, I suggested he and his wife head back down and we would hike another 10-15 minutes up and then meet them at the car. Both wifes said no Johnny can make it, I remembered the article when nobody would speak up and I just said no turn around and we will meet you at the car. They did, we hiked for another 10 minutes and then went back down and met them at the car and everybody was happy. I probably would not have spoken up if I had not read the article, so it is very easy to get stuck in Groupthink.
