Participant
You people crack me up. Arguing about whether someone deserves to make $100K or $70K a year or whatever. Meanwhile the hedge fund managers and Goldman Sachs goons are raking in millions a year by gutting your country and stealing your tax money. Nary a peep about whether they’re overpaid, let’s instead focus on a principal making $150K or a teacher making $70K or whatever.
This country is doomed! Back to sleep, everyone…
People on this thread are arguing about teachers’ pay because, well, the thread is about teachers’ pay.
I’m sure people would rant about the excessive profit the fund managers are making in a relevant thread. And yes the country is doomed because we don’t care as much about the education for our kids as we should.

Participant
I didn’t mind Ochem, for me, it was Enzyme Kinetics. The professor stated outright that “nobody gets this stuff” and the school was basically wasting everyone’s time offering the class to undergrads.
haha, I once heard of a math prof who quit teaching Math 1A (not sure just undergrad or entirely) at UC Berkeley because he was disappointed by the level of the students. I think he was assuming the students would be at the level of MIT or something…

Participant

Sure. I nearly had a heart attack that I got an 21(out of 100) on an ochem midterm, till I learned that the mean was 7, and only after he threw out all the tests that were turned in blank.
Organic Chemistry.
That course prompted me to change my major from Chemical Engineering to Electrical. That course was my first C. But I felt better when I learned that only few of us from that class got a grade of C or better.
I have utmost respect for Chem Engineering graduates. Think it’s one of the most difficult major.
A friend told me his ochem prof declared (well aware most were taking the class as a premed) before a final exam,
“this world doesn’t need all these organic chemists so even if you don’t do well don’t feel bad” or something to that effect.dbapig
