I hope the asshats posting above me are engaging in a little of what’s known as “black humor” to assuage their stress. Otherwise, I can’t believe they’d be making fun of this situation. Are you guys new to San Diego County? These fires are one of the risks you take in living in Southern California. I have been through a dozen of these, and they are NOT funny. Half of the staff at the company I work for could not come in today because they were RENTERS being evacuated from such lofty communities as Lakeside and Rancho Penasquitos. You think these people don’t have kids, pets, important papers, photo albums? Make fun of people for signing the papers for stupid loans, not for a natural catastrophe.
CMcGParticipantUm…my eyesight is not as good as it used to be. What is going on in that “art” on pic #7? I’m serious. Thanks in advance.

I guess these residents will go there for news, but not to sleep on cots.

Considered an “act of God.”

How terrific that you have so many beautiful and luxurious areas to choose from. A friend recently spoke to a woman who sold her home in the Covenant and moved further up the North County coast. She loved the RSF environment but complained that it takes too long to do anything there; e.g. 20 minutes just to get to a gas station.
Somebody complained on here (or another blog — I don’t remember) that in order to do anything to your home in the Covenant, you have to go before the very strict Art Committee. That comment was countered by someone who said the rules are just as strict in the communities adjacent to the Covenant, such as Santaluz.
CMcGParticipantWickedheart–I’m with you. The same broker has been “farming” (is that the correct term?) my dad’s neighborhood for at least 25 years. As far as I know, she doesn’t even ring the doorbell. She comes around maybe three-four times a year and simply leaves a small pumpkin, a small Christmas tree (whatever the season) and a notepad or magnet with her name on it. As my dad’s neighbors die off, I notice their heirs use this broker. I will, too. She knows the neighborhood.

What am I missing here? Taxes, insurance maybe? Also, where do I sign up for such a maintenance job at the airport here in San Diego? I don’t mean to come off as a snob but that seems like a lot of money for, say, pushing a broom.
CMcGParticipantmixx, I hope this link works:
Sorry, I don’t know how to make the link shorter. If this doesn’t work, go to signon, click on video, click on U.S., and search for “Greenspan.”
CMcGParticipantI grew up here and will probably die here. The people in my office who are talking about “moving home” are late 20s-early 30s types who came here after college but are now marrying and planning to start families.
CMcGParticipantAnybody else catch the video (still up on signonsandiego) of him at a book signing? Some guy, yelling and pointing, shouts, “This guy is a criminal! He destroyed our country!” He is escorted out of the store.
CMcGParticipantGeez. Even if I don’t do the whole pulling up the sheets, tucking them in, etc. every day I at least throw the bedspread over everything. These sellers wouldn’t even do that and they’re now exposed as the slobs they are for the whole world to see.
CMcGParticipantMy eyes! That mural with the crazy-eyed lady in the Alianza house would scare the bejesus out of little kids.
