ParticipantMy question to the room and the OP would be…
“How likely is it to rent a 1.1 million dollar home?”
I have no experience in this area but being an avid watcher of the market I see no end of million dollar plus homes being on the MLS for a very long time though the OP is at the lower spectrum of that and it would make things easier.
Now I know the readers are going “wait this guy just shifted gears between the last two sentences”.
But what I am thinking is that the selling and renting scenerios could be similiar in this price range. Anyone agree or disagree? There are a lot of million dollar homes for rent. Especailly on the beach front.
At the 500K to 700K there is a lot of roboust activity for sales and rentals but, agian, what is at the million plus?
SDR, sdr? I would think you two would have the wisdom in this area.

Participant
Follow up from me also.
I can say without doubt that my eyes are very very sensitive. Won’t go into the reasons why but there are some.
The reflective coating? Get it. Well worth the $$. You will notice it not only in what you can see, but also when your photo is taken. You can actually see you eyeballs in pics when you get it, while you’ll just see reflection when you don’t.
Scratch resistance? Hard to tell because I’m much easier on my lenses now that I’m older. But I can tell you this: I never get new glasses because of scratches now that I get scratch resistance. I get new glasses cuz the frames wear out. Also note that using lense wipes with SOFT rubbing is the way to go.
Bifocals versus progressive? Progressive without a doubt!!! And insist on Varilux without a doubt. The narrow part of the hourglass is MUCH wider on Varilux and that is very, very important. I have zero adjustment time with Varilux while other brands cause me to have weeks or even worse *never* adjustment time.
This stuff does matter. Your eyes are very important. Don’t skimp.
I have the deluxe Varilux on my last set, not on my current, and I loved it. Be warned though… It takes your eyes 30 to 45 days to learn how to deal with progressives but it is well worth it…
Good advice from Svelte… I concur fully…
One other piece of advice. I had Lens Crafters do the Varilux using a computer the last set was done by hand measurements. The computer did a much better job than the opti using hand measurements. In fact they had to send the set back to be reground. Make sure your opti has the computer…

Participant

UV cannot pass through glass.
Actually, glass is transparent to longer UV wavelengths, reflective to shorter UV wavelengths. This is why you do use a UV filter on cameras, particularly film types. With film, it tends to expose all colors, washing out the sky (deep blue sky ends up looking baby blue). With digital sensors, I am seeing almost the opposite behavior, where the sky gets a deeper blue w/o a UV filter. Behavior could depend upon manufacturer. Glass passes 90% of light above 350nm, but blocks below 90% below 300nm.
NOTE: Blacklights use a glass bulb. Woods glass used to be used, but now it is only a coating.
Good info…
I am going to follow up on that.

ParticipantMy two cents…
Get it. Nothing worse that being in certian lighting conditions and seeing your own damn eyeballs…
Went once without it and I won’t do it again. That being said I have a really good vision plan and get everything for almost nothing…
There are other upsells I wouldnt go for like UV protection. If your lenses are indeed glass then there is no need for it. UV cannot pass through glass.

ParticipantIf it 20 to 25 latinos it might be a situation where they are illegals working for a company that has brought them up from south of the border.
There was a fast food company in Phoenix that was importing illegals to work in thier company and they had large amount of people living in one house and the company had four or five of these houses around the valley.
I want to say the company was Roberto’s…
Anyway these houses are common place in the PHX area and get raid by ICE all the time.
You might have something similiarly going on or a mule house…

This.I have more problems with some dog owners, than the dogs. Dogs that are well trained, are not a problem in public. But so few dogs are well trained.
That said – we take our dog for walks around the neighborhood, and sometimes for walks on the beach (before 9am when they must leave) but the dog stays home when we go out to run errands or eat. I don’t understand why you’d bring your dog with you to Lowes or Home Depot… to ask them advice about paint colors?
Dogs make terrible home decorators…
For some reason they always suggest gray tones of paint.
I love dogs but really even the best trained ones have no business in places like Home Depot…

Participant
Was she doing this prior to being hired? If she started only after being hired, then she was fired when they found out about it and confirmed the situation.
Also, as spdrun has already noted, most dispatchers are civilians earning between $40K and $55K per year (CHP); they are usually not sworn officers. Some departments scrutinize applicants for dispatcher positions almost as thoroughly as they do for sworn officers, but some do not.

Edited to add…
If a Qualcomm employee (or employee of any private company not doing govt work or under strict govt regulations) had a spouse who was a memeber of the Hells Angels, would they launch a full-on investigation of their employee?
It looks like it was this woman’s job with the CHP that caused LE agencies to step up the investigation. Would a Qualcomm employee’s case be treated the same way? No, of course not. Why? Because those who work for the government have access to greater power. They are in positions of trust; therefore, they are held to higher standards, as they should be. In other words, yes, they have more stringent hiring and employment standards for these positions.
Your examples are proving my point, nsr, not disproving them.
Only to you…
