ParticipantRustico,
I totally understand human frailty/weakness and don’t place the blame too much on the maid. Arny should have evolved more and not done the deed at that point in his life. Briansd1 – it would be poetic justice for his offspring to become President as that’s what’s been postulated to be Arnold’s secret desire, despite not being eligible due to lock of being natural-born.
Oh yeah, there are now photos of the maid:
Not too hard on the eyes even now, and was probably even more beautiful a decade ago. Easy to see what the gov saw in her. Shame on him for not keeping it in his pants.

ParticipantWould have hoped he’d have matured enough to be a decent dad, husband before he tried for Governor.
The internet is awash with embarrasing photos/videos.

Also, I do think the plantation owner analogy is fitting. A worker who is either fearful of losing a good job, or who is enthralled with either the power or celebrity might not think clearly enough to resist. Back in the plantation era, I can think of no notably different motivations accept that the fear factor would go much much deeper. And, shame on Arnold for taking advantage of the poor & weak when he had the benefit of fortune and time to grow into a thoughtful judicious adult (but actually failed to do so..) No, Arny disappointed his kids, wife, CA, and the world. His legacy will be forever stained by this indiscretion.
Too bad, I had actually begun to admire him for taking a shot at helping to better CA. Now, he’ll hold derogatory punchline status on late night talkshows through the rest of his days. I wonder if he’ll ever show up on Leno or Letterman again. Pity…

ParticipantI was girding my loins for a steady upward march towards 1970/1980’s era interest rates. The market can remain irrational longer than we can remain logical….
Nice job bg! You are fighting the good fight!
Rates aren’t low enough yet to suggest a refi for our home. But, if they went to 3.75 for a 30 year fixed, then we’d have pretty phenomenal motivation. I wonder just how low they’ll go?
