November 7, 2012 at 10:21 AM in reply to: Post Election Blues: Dow -176pts, Nasdaq -39, S&P500 -21 #753992CAwiremanParticipantFlu – same thing happened after last election in 2008.

Markets are fickle. Real concern is what we do from here.
We’re only down 266 on the DOW right now. In 2008, it was 486 down, for the day. That’s progress, isn’t it?
😉
CAwiremanParticipantOkay, just finished doing dishes. My son said Pres Obama was projected as winner. Indeed.
CNN is projecting 281 to 201 at the moment.
Now, awaiting the local CA offices and props…
CAwiremanParticipantThe seasonal framework for predicting behaviors can also be seen in HS Dent’s books/presentations.
Dent isn’t nearly as apocalyptic as the ones in this article, (and I wondered if Glen Beck wasn’t a silent contributor to the JimQ post) but otherwise, Dent’s work and teh 4th Turning have quite a bit in the way of parallels, bordering on plagurism..
Dent’s Winter Season – http://www.hsdent.com/The_Long_Winter_Season_2010_FINRA_Reviewed
Dent ties things back to a families cycle – early years, heavy spending on the kids, house, etc. Later years, retiring/cutting back. With entire population sectors entering a new stage, Dent argues it has a predictable effect.
CAwiremanParticipantInteresting Polling data
CNN Electoral Map:
http://www.cnn.com/election/2012/ecalculator#?battlegroundPortal for lot’s of exit poll results.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/06/2012-exit-polls_n_2038617.html
(On the right hand side, under “latest poll updates”, and elsewhere on the Huffington page…)At this point I agree, it’ll be good for this all be be over tonight/tomorrow…..
The race for the white house could be a squeaker but I think Obama has the edge. We’ll see….
CAwiremanParticipantRazor close Presidential election?
http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/2012/romney-vs-obama-electoral-map?icid=acm50electmap2
In listening to the news shows this last weekend, the conservatives see Romney pulling it off and the libs, Obama.
Polls show a close race. And, some favor each. Aside from who you voted for, who do you think will actually win.
I think Obama will skate through and win it.
CAwiremanParticipantCongrats F430 truly happy for you. We here want details. Like…what loan term and interest rate did you go with?
I rented for about ten years before buying again, and we didn’t have a home in CV – although, we rented there 😉
CAwiremanParticipantCouple of broad points –
This is likely Obama’s 9/11.
It could also be his Watergate in that what actually happened was bad enough, but not coming forward with full details early on, and overall, covering it up could be his undoing, if in hindsight most Americans think we acted wrongly.
CAwiremanParticipantPresidential ads heat up –
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-romney-obama-jeep-ads-20121029,0,7378026.story
“The Romney ad’s claim about Chrysler building Jeeps in China is, again, literally true. But it leaves out the fact that this is unrelated to American jobs and that the company has also increased production in the U.S. Chrysler released a statement saying it had “no intention” of shifting production out of the U.S. to China.
The Obama ad counters with another newspaper headline, from The Blade of Toledo, Ohio: “Jeep Expansion to add 1,100 jobs.”
The kicker to the Obama spot is: “Mitt Romney on Ohio jobs. Wrong then. Dishonest now.” Cut into the middle of that hit is a brief clip of a smiling Romney saying “Let Detroit go bankrupt.””
Hard to believe we’re gonna vote one of these guys into the office of president for 4 years. Not sure if that says something negative about the candidates, about humans in general, or all the above….
And, depending upon which polls you follow/believe, its a dead heat, Romney’s ahead, or Obama has the electoral votes to win. Could be a close one.
CAwiremanParticipant
President: FLU
Governor: UCGal (yes I know I have to wait till ’14)
Mayor: SDuuuudeAnd the richest man that I know personally said this to me when I turned 18.
“If there in… Vote them out… and if there is a woman on ballot vote for them because they’ll steal less.”
CE
But seriously I don’t want to vote for either. Choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil. :P
Pretty funny CE. Yeah, politics is dirty, end to end. And the less dirty the candidate, most often, the less the chances of him/her winning.
Not sure I agree with your wealthy friend. My wife steals, er/uh spends a lot!! LOL!!
CAwiremanParticipantIn the debates last night, Obama was on the attack. Most polls give the debate to him, but cite his combative posture as a possible negative.
Romney was more cool/collected.
The election, despite current state/electoral polling, could go either way at this point.
CAwiremanParticipantI voted absentee.
I’ll update with more later on today.
But, struggled with the presidential vote, and went with Obama.
More – Yes on 30, no on 38
Yes on 31, 34, 35, 36, 39, 40CAwiremanParticipantalso…..
Feinstein and City of Carlsbad City Counsil, 2 openings, and 2 candidates. Like falling off a log for the two running….Wood & Blackburn…
