ParticipantLol, they’re never happy if you’re happy. One of my favorite lines, “The next time I feel like getting married, I’m just going to find a woman I don’t like, and buy her a house.”

ParticipantWhat’s the point in going for the reductio ad absurdum argument? It is undeniable that illegal immigration has had a dramatic effect on almost every aspect of our lives here in San Diego. Mexico is a bastion of organized crime masquerading as a nation. We have the luxury of keeping most vice south of the border. The blowback on that is that its byproducts drift north; e.g. drug money looking for a safe haven, and one can not ignore the tsunami of crime and criminals.

ParticipantDave, thanks for your honesty. Truth has a very low value in our culture despite protestations otherwise. I’ve always liked Anthony Quinn’s formulation as Zorba the Greek. When questioned by the Englishman if he’d ever been married, he replies, “Wife, kids, house, divorce… the full treatment.”
There’s also the priceless Marion line, or words to the effect, “The government/judge says it’s OK, so it must be.” In the words of Tom Wolfe, “Be decent people.”
