ParticipantGary, don’t take offense at the flashing signs. Like all small towns, the cops are out of control here. The worst part of it is that we don’t have enough to handle the summer crowds, and we have too many for winter staffing, and since Coronado doesn’t pay well, we get the dregs until they can find another job. Think, “Police Academy”.
I understand that Coronado’s finest were conducting 100% sobriety checkpoints at the end of the bridge during evening hours this past week. These guys aren’t smart enough to not screw with the locals. We need a new El Jefe.
As for your plan Svelte, I’m sure it would pass the ballot on this side of the bay.

ParticipantBTW Gary, I’ll be glad to send the boom box assholes to your neighborhood, where you’re far more tolerant of bad behavior.

ParticipantLOL, my hater comment was an obvious Lebowski reference. Gary, we already pay for the infrastructure that gets you to the base, and for those who visit in a thousand myriad ways. You’ve probably never seen what this place looks like on July 5th.
The lure of Coronado isn’t the beach for those of us who live here, but the peace and quiet that pervades the place normally. Alas, normal has become more and more rare as time has gone by, and the bridge toll is the dividing line.
If I were mayor, I’d issue parking passes to residents, and make everyone else pay to come on the island. Then you’d be paying for the costs assumed by the residents of Coronado for your untaxed presence. Then Ocean Blvd wouldn’t be an oil slick, there wouldn’t be gang graffiti, and all kinds of crime would disappear overnight.
