ParticipantWalter, I thought you quit the booze. You were my inspiration…I stopped my 2 (which was turning into 3) glass of wine per night habit partly b/c you got me thinking it would be a good idea.
Now I’m wanting a nice shaken, straight up margarita (and I definitely agree w/Rich that they can only be made w/fresh squeezed lime juice…I’ve been making basically his recipe for a few years now and it’s the only way to go). Nothing like that natural limey sweet-tart thing w/good tequila.

ParticipantMost nights, it’s a little nippy to be outside here so I guess the 84% humidity takes the edge off the chill b/c it feels great on our patio tonight. But I guess it’s different at the fairgrounds, with all those people packed in there, probably creating their own microclimate!

ParticipantAs someone who lives in Del Mar and spends most of the day ferrying kids around, I agree that the fair traffic seems WAY worse this year. I don’t know if it’s the traffic management people who aren’t doing an effective job, or if attendance has greatly increased (or maybe both), but it seems almost impossible to go anywhere after 10 a.m. these days. We were just saying we feel a bit trapped.
Humidity – not so much. Must have been different in the fairgrounds because, within a mile from there, we’ve had nice cool breezes and crisp night air (warmer weather, but not too hot) all week.
I never thought I’d say this, but I actually find myself kind of looking forward to race season, only because it will mean the end of the fair.
Hate to gripe about it b/c I know we’re lucky to live anywhere around San Diego, where the livin’ is pretty darn easy.
Happy summer and Fourth of July, everyone!
