Participant“cheap foreign labor”
??? Sony only has designers and product developers in SD. No more assembly line/manufacturing workers. I hope a Product Architect is not “cheap foreign labor”!

Participant“American consumer continues to load up on credit card debt!”
HELOC/Refi days are over. Last gasp of the overleveraged consumer before the noose tightens. Then the sky high defaults will kill the credit card “industry”. Good riddance.

Participant“Plenty of Chinese get rejected for visas”
True; but I would doubt if anybody who wants to buy a holiday home in San Diego with cash will be rejected. All said and done, the visas are just a filter to keep poor people out. If they ever refuse a Visa to such a guy, it will be the ultimate irony. No visa for a cash buyer and no need for a visa to Jose from TJ to come and pick lettuce for sub-minimum wage!

Participant“3) foreigners are coming to SD;
5) inflation will save the day;”I think the above two are valid scenarios. By the time the fat lady sings, the political pressure on FED will be unbearable. They may crack and decide to kill the $ to stop the pain. If $ devalues by 50% or more, I can imagine a lot of offshore interest in SD. That’s what happened in Vancouver, BC. It quickly became a suburb of Hong Kong.

Participant“California home sales”
Make it US. BTW, the worst of the problems seems to be in Atlanta (going by inventory, more than 110K homes on market, by comparison, SD is 20K+). Any clue?

ParticipantAlso, a lot of “millionaires” based on (paper) house worth are now ex-millionaires (more like $417K’ers). Imagine what that will do to big-ticket spending. Looks like a socialist revolution!
