However, in the U.S. (one of the most capitalistic of the industrialized nations), vertical class mobility is far lower than in most of western Europe (where most of the nations have a more socialistic capitalist system). In other words, which economic class you are born into in the U.S. is more likely to determine where you will economically end up than in other industrialized nations.

the only exception are George Bush and the Kennedy’s.

In the US of A, if one tries hard enough one will succeed. The problem is that some never tries and some didn’t try hard enough.
I know this b/c I am an immigrant to this country. There are no other country in the world where one is given a chance to succeed no matter what a person’s background is.

lastly, life is unfair. Some are born into weath. But this shouldn’t deter a person from trying his best if he is from a less advantaged background/upbringing.
