I meant to say I like the sunshine without having to endure 110F heat. I also like the walkable neighborhoods near downtown, little shops, restaurants, all that stuff that we have here but not too many other places do. Certainly Vegas doesn’t although I confess I do like the malls there. But at some point you have to start wondering if all of that tax is worth it.
Washington state also has no state income tax. Florida and Texas don’t as well but only crazy people would want to live there.
blahblahblahParticipantIncline Village is nicer, fly in/out of Reno. I have considered this as I pay a lot of CA tax. But I like the sunshine too much so here I stay…

Yup.The #1 reason people don’t believe that global warming is occurring:
Al Gore made a movie about it.
“If I don’t like the messenger, then I will refuse to even consider the message.”
Actually some people are beginning to question it because they read the news.
blahblahblahParticipant
Just curious how you pick a physician in TJ. Do you have someone who recommended one or?
Yeah, I know someone who’s been down there and had good experiences. There is a pretty big medical tourism business there now, just google “medical tourism tijuana” and lots of stuff will pop up. People from all over the US fly to SD to go down there for treatments. Of course I haven’t been yet so maybe it’s not that great, I will know soon though…

Not too complex — too expensive.
Private industry is great at building toll roads. If our interstates and state roads had been built by private industry, they would all be toll roads because they’d have to be paid for. Would people still want to drive 45 minutes each way every day to and from work if they had to pay $30 for the privilege? I doubt it, so yeah, this would have had a huge effect on the structure of our towns and cities.
blahblahblahParticipantMy insurance went up a whole s***load right after the Hope and Change went into effect. Good thing I live near TJ, I can always just downsize to a catastrophic plan and do all my health care down there.
blahblahblahParticipantI’m about to head down to TJ for a checkup. Went to a US doctor a couple of weeks back and it was such a poor experience I’m going to try the other side of the border. Lucky for us here in SD we always have that option if things continue to get worse…
blahblahblahParticipant
so you are the d*ck who crawls along in the fast lane any time traffic is heavy or you see someone tap their brakes two miles up the road.
I notice you don’t say you get to work any faster, only that you didn’t hit your brakes.
Note that I’m one of those who swings all the way around you at the first chance I get.
if you practice this “theory”, please do it in the slow lane.
If he’s not hitting his brakes, he’s using less gas too. And less energy in general since his brakes are going to last longer. You should try his technique sometime, if more people did this then there would be a lot less traffic.

I think there was maybe 1 episode with a city apartment.

Cheap cheap cheap.
$100K is the new $50K.
$200K is the new $100K.
blahblahblahParticipantHis “Jobs Czar” is Jeff Immelt, CEO of GE. GE payed $0 US income tax in 2010 on $14.2B profit, $5.1B of which came from US operations. GE just moved its entire X-Ray division to China.
