barnaby33ParticipantYeah it was a bit over the top. In his defense he says his analysis isn’t beholden to anyone that pays his salary. That made it worse to me. At least David Lereah was lying for a paycheck. Whats Gin’s excuse?

barnaby33ParticipantNot only did we see it coming long ago, we warned him directly. Hell he even posted on this site once to defend himself against attacks that were made against him. It had become obvious to this and other communities what was happening and yet Gin kept producing Pollyanna-ish analysis.
Given that history its not shocking that he is shocked at the rate of decline.

barnaby33ParticipantThough it belabored a few points I thought the article was well written and from an angle that most of us don’t tend to think much about.
I went to CSUSM and only felt it was inferior for about a year. I got a much better education in CS than my counterparts who went to UCSD. I had to accept that while I was bright I wasn’t going to an elite school very early on, like 9th grade. I always felt grades were important, but not so important that I wanted to kill myself to get good ones. I was never able to quantify that feeling that I didn’t want to study and take extra curricular activities just to get into a better school. Possibly I just wansn’t mature enough, but maybe I will be some day.

barnaby33ParticipantSRS. Today is a good entry point. This rally has more to go, but only so the shorts can load up again. Nothing has been solved. I liked Chris’s phrase, “Barry and the interns.” Its like Bushonomics, but with a black face.
I think Dean Kunstler said it best in his blog:
If central casting called for a poised, straight-talking, and capable-seeming president, it would be hard to come up with someone better than the Barack Obama who walked and talked around the White House grounds with Steve Croft on “60-Minutes” Sunday night. He may perfectly represent the majority who elected him, though, because he also appears to be in full commanding denial of the realities overtaking our American experience.
Those realities include the fact that we can’t possibly return to the easy credit and no money down “consumer” economy no matter how many nominal dollars get shoveled into the fiery furnaces of banks too-big-to-fail. As Treasury Secretary Geithner’s underling, Stephanie Cutter, said last week, “Our singular focus is on increasing lending to support economic recovery. Everything we do to stabilize the financial system is done with that goal in mind.”In other words, if you think that was the bottom, sold to you!
