barnaby33ParticipantI goto Valle de Bravo down near Mexico city every year. Never had a problem. I fly out of the TJ airport to Toluca. Of course Valle is where a lot of rich Mexicans have their lake homes so the amount of cops there is large to say the least.

barnaby33ParticipantIf you’ve read the realtors comments it seems like renting is hands down the better way to go. If you are going to be spending that kind of money, do you really want to be rushed to find something? The market may be soft at your price point, but that just means you are going to be that much pickier.

barnaby33ParticipantIts cheaper for a reason, several of them actually. Us snobby San Diegans (especially lifers like me) remember when Escondido and Ramona were for middle class white flight. Now its Temecula and surrounds, but hey its cheaper.
On the plus side the schools are better relative to afford-ability than anything you are likely to get in SD.
