I for one would love to see an infographic or a walk through of how retiring boomers are either raising rates or keeping them high. I’ve heard the theory and it sounds good, but the mechanics of such things really matter.
I consistently saved and invested for many years, paid down my primary and kept expenses low. I am enjoying a very modest cost structure as I head toward retirement. I’m living where I have always dreamed of being and at no risk of having to leave.
Such modesty. In a lesser man it would come off as a brag!
I haven’t watched this video, but doesn’t this guy predict the demise of just about everything? California’s ecological luck may be running out but that’s more the worlds problem than ours.
There’s no free ham sammich. I’d personally rather rent out the townhouse, keep the lower tax basis and use the delta to offset my new house payment. However that means you have to deal with tenants and maintenance. Selling just resets the tax base. How stable are your jobs? If less than rock solid selling to lower the monthly nut on your new house may make more emotional sense even if costing more bonars.
When you say reserves are good, what do you mean? Personally I think we are in a 2006 moment. Mostly because nobody is selling. That should be a strong tell not to buy, buy lemmings gonna lemming.
