Again, MM is nothing special but it just so happened to be already situated in the “right place” when high tech and biotech employers decided to set up shop in SD.

AN, you’re our “resident expert” on MM. Do you know of any Historic homes there, view homes on canyons bluffs and/or cliffs, homes designed by local architects, custom homes, yards with 80+ year-old trees, homes with acreages, etc. I mean …. besides being on ’70’s thru ’90’s tracts, are there really any other “redeeming qualities” (besides proximity to job centers) to the single family homes there?
Be honest.
I hate those old ass homes. If those are my only choice, I’d buy it and tear it down.
Yes, there are canyon view homes with some on 1/3-1/2 acre lots. There is even a few $1.8M+ custom homes designed by some architect. I hate those homes and think they ugly as hell.
As for other redeeming qualities, how about being 2-8 miles from the coast, being a few miles from UCSD, being 15-20 minutes from almost anywhere worth going to in SD county, have good schools, etc.
But I’m sure you don’t really care about getting real answers.

What’s sad is for republicans, if they don’t vote for trump now has Hillary as a choice instead…
For the Dems, if they hate Hillary, it’s Trump…
Who do they hate more?
I’d take Hillary any day of the week, including Sunday.

Participant
I can always count on the three of you BG, spdrun, and Brian, to take a thread that started out talking about Mira Mesa and evolve it into something completely unrelated to Mira Mesa.
You guys should work together working on the next script for Seinfield. Well done. That would be awesome.
Participant
BG, I know that you don’t drive much… but you should. Take a drive up to Playa Vista in LA.
We could easily replace the old stuff lining Santa Monica Blvd or Hollywood Blvd with new stuff. That’s happening but slowly. Santa Monica has dense mid-rise developments.
Less nimbyism would be good.
Since this thread is about Mira Mesa, I can see a redo of Mira Mesa mall with a trolley center linking the area to UTC and condos in high rise buildings. That would make Mira Mesa a good extension to La Jolla/UTC and provide housing for UCSD and the various institutions and business surrounding.
I actually like UTC/La Jolla near UTC (poor La Jolla) and the density there. I’m looking forward to when they finish the new mall, new condo and trolley. Mira Mesa can be like that too. Santa Monica is fairly dense… It’s it located on the beach.. but why not build more neighborhoods like that, but not necessarily by the beach? Higher buildings with more shops would bring more livability and excitement for younger and old residents.
I would love to have a Trader Joes/Bodega, coffee shop, restaurants, etc.. in the same complex where I live (by that I mean down the elevator). If and when there are condos above UTC, I’ll be one of the first ones to put a deposit.
What you’re wishing for is in the works. Once the blue line extension is completed to UTC, it’ll be extended to Mira Mesa. This will be a mix-used mid to high density development. His actions seems to prove otherwise ( minimum wage veto and courting businesses).an

Participant

However, what you posted, Trump is as similar to the other two as Trump to Bernie.
I never said ( or at least never wanted to say) that Trump is similar to Rubio & Cruz.
I said basically two things.
1. If you don’t like Trump and you are not a believer in conservative ideology , then you should dislike Rubio and Cruz even more.
2. There is not that much difference between Rubio and Cruz and the extreme right of the Republican Party.
Isn’t your #1 essentially is saying if you’re a Democrat, then you should dislike Rubio and Cruz?#2, Rubio is part of the gang of 8, which in my view makes him much more centrist. I view that as a good thing, but am fully aware that during the primary, the candidates have to run either left or right. Just as Hillary is trying to run far left to match Bernie.
an
ParticipantI still don’t know what Trump would do. On a whole host of stuff. Even with what you posted. However, what you posted, Trump is as similar to the other two as Trump to Bernie. In the past, he also said he is in favor of universal healthcare, full support for pro choice, contributed to many Democrats, etc. So I have no idea where he really is. My interpretation of him is he is great at reading the crazies in the Republican party and take full advantage of it.
an
Participant
Calling eachother RINO during the primaries is a common tactic. Current negative articles about Rubio from the extreme right are transient. They will die down as soon as Cruz is out of the race.
My prediction is that if Rubio gets the nomination, all of the GOP, including extreme right will fall in line and work for his election.
If Trump wins on the other hand, then defections are possible.
In short, there is not that much difference between what Rubio’s positions are and what the far right wants. I would not make any assumptions about him saying one thing to win primary and doing something else after getting elected. In fact, with a likely majority in house, senate and Supreme Court I will fully expect him to deliver on what he is saying!
What is Trump position? All I hear is fear mongering stuff. He didn’t say anything with substance, so how can you say his position is like Cruz or Rubio. Since I don’t know what his policy view point, other than building the damn wall, so I can’t say I hate is policy. But I do hate him because of his personality and who he inspires.an
Participant
So am I the only one here who doesn’t like Hillary? I really hate 2 party politics.
I don’t like Hillary but I hate Trump.an
ParticipantNot that it matter since I’m in CA, but if Trump is the nominee, I would actually vote for a Democrat.
