Participant
So if I get either the Infuse 4G or Atrix on AT&T will those support LTE once AT&T rolls it out? Or are they only capable of HSPDA?
LTE is an entirely different network. So, the short answer is no. What I’ve read is that, even LTE phones between VZW and AT&T are not compatible due to the different frequencies that the 2 LTE network operate at.an
Participant
AN… Your speed is not capped btw… In a one bar condition your device changes its modulation scheme to a more slower but more robust format thus slowing the device down. DL speeds all depend on the amount of Interfence, Signal Strength, Load at the BTS, and finally and the lynch pin, backhaul size. Verizon is not capping. BTW all these amazing speeds with start to go down when the systems start loading up with 4G devices.

I have a friend who works at Novatel and while they’re testing their MiFi hotspot for Verizon LTE, they say they can consistently get 25Mb down and 10Mb up. So, I think they are capping at 15Mb down and 5Mb. I’m getting the same speed at 1 bar and 5 bars.an

ParticipantI got the Thunderbolt specifically for the 4G feature and I’ve been 100% satisfied with that choice. Once you start surfing the net with a 4.3″+ screen and 4G LTE speed, everything else looks and feel inadequate. My personal priority list would be LTE, then 4″+ screen, then everything else. The Samsung Droid Charge would be a good phone to get too. If you’re looking around, you can check out the WP7 phones too. I’m quite impressed with it when I played with it.

Participant

LTE blows all the other “4G” out of the water.
That’s because that’s the only real 4G network instead of just being a marketing term.
My point exactly. That’s why I put 4g in quotation.an
