ParticipantI’ve been watching her show, read her books for awhile now. Her message has been the same as far back as I can remember. It’s all about eliminate debt, spend less, save more. Her advice is very conservative, which is what most people really need. She always advice to buy a home instead of rent (even now) IF you can afford the payment. Now, she even say if you can afford the payment and want to buy, look for the best deal and offer 2002 price in the hot areas like Cali. If most people listened to her advice from 2002-2005, we wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place since most people who bought in that time frame can’t really afford the house they bought anyways.

Participantnostradamus, thanks for the recommendation. I love steaks and definitely will try this place out. In regarding to Pho, (it’s Pho Hoa Cali, btw), I prefer Pho Ca Dao better. It’s on the corner of Camino Ruiz and MM Blvd. They tend to have less MSG in their food. One way to tell if they have a lot or not is how thirsty you are after you eat. The more thirsty = the more MSG.

ParticipantSorry, Jimmy. These 2 houses should be in the low-200 to mid-200 range. They are way overpriced. If you build it (savings), it(nicer house) will come.
Wow, low to mid 200k? Really? @ 6% and 0% down, low to mid 200k will yield 1200-1500/month mortgage fully amortized. That’s before any tax break. The rent for this place should be around 1700-1800/month. You can’t even rent a 2bed/2bath apartment in MM for 1200, they go for around 1300-1500/month on this side of MM.
Even at the bottom of the last cycle, older & smaller home in south west MM was about $200/month more, after 10% down, than the rent of 2 bed/2 bath apartment in Summerset. So, although I’d love to see it go down to low 200k, I highly doubt it’ll happen unless rent collapse as well.
