    BG, have you every been to 4S Ranch? There is a significant employment center right next to 4S with Sony, HP, Broadcom, Teradata… it’s walking distance. Scripps Clinic in Carmel Mountain and Pomerado Hospital are 3 (4) miles away. If the local shops&restaurants are not enough (Ralphs, Jimbo’s, Fresh&Easy, CVS, Ace, Pets something, Bed, Bath and Beyond), Carmel Mountain is 3 miles down Camino Del Norte with Costco, Home Depot, Sears, movie theater…
    We usually go to Moonlight beach in Encinitas and almost always take the scenic freeway-independent route through Rancho Santa F.

    I am not saying it is perfect or better than any other place, but we are rarely at home during daylight and we get on freeway twice a month to get to the Sea World or Safari Park.
