Great story sdr 🙂 Wonder if the buyer could sue, or just represent your seller!

Some years ago I worked in IT for a company that did (among other things) online real estate listings. One day I got an e-mail from an outraged ad sales rep who said that we’d put the wrong price on a listing. I pulled up the info from the database manually and replied that everything seemed to be correct.

An hour or so later I get another all-caps e-mail from the same sales rep. It seems the customer had called again complaining that we had the wrong phone number and photo on the listing.

Again I checked the database manually … At some point a very dim light bulb went on in my head. At another, much later point, I was able to convince the ad sales rep that her customer was looking at someone else’s listing.

Needless to say the sales rep never apologized. But I’m glad I wasn’t the one who had to explain to the outraged but confused customer that she wasn’t the only one selling a condo in Mission Viejo that week.

In my case the lender threw in $700 or so for an unnecessary appraisal and transfer taxes. I was assured those were just sloppy preparation and that the fees would be removed. I guess we’ll see … if not I’ll start screaming “RESPA violation.”

Sometimes I’m not sure how much GF is in the GFE. I think one of the problems is that the GFE has been offshored to BFE.

A number of federal and state laws might apply, but you really need advice from someone familiar with North Carolina and not from a bunch of California ****house lawyers 🙂 The only advice I can give in good conscience is to mix yourself a nice strong drink and relax. We have a number of highly qualified resident mixologists. Oh yeah, and wear sunscreen. (Though I guess even the sunscreen thing is being debated these days.)

It might take a while to find an honest lawyer … so here are a few things I Googled up that might help you sleep better. The usual warnings about Internet legal “advice” apply, of course.
