I admit it, the quake was all my fault 🙂

I kept pulling and pulling but the nail just wouldn’t end. I had to get out a cheater bar, then fence pliers, then asbestos gloves and a welding helmet. Just as the nail shank was starting to glow red-hot, the point came loose and I fell backwards on my posterior.

Seriously though, you can’t imagine what was going through my head 🙂 As part of my absurdly detailed due diligence I’d studied the local geology and decided that the area was less than desirable from a seismic standpoint. However, I decided that other factors were more important … Then an earthquake hits a week after closing. At least the shaking stopped while I still had clean underwear.

I too feel like I got a “fair” deal … I didn’t get a rock-bottom price, but I got a good house in a good location for what I paid. And if this truly is a once-in-a-lifetime buying opportunity, it follows that you should be looking for a “forever” house.

I also feel as if my life had been on hold for the past eight years or so … holding out through the bubble years didn’t exactly make me a lot of friends (except the people I met here) and I’ll never be able to get back the years I spent in cramped rentals. But hey, I guess it was all part of the path that got me to where I am today.
