ParticipantSpeaking of Berkeley types … I lived in Berkeley during the Loma Prieta quake in ’89. On the evening of the I walked past the offices of the local commie groups (it was on the way to a fine brewing establishment) and spied a group of aging Che Guevara wannabes crowded around a little B/W TV set.
“How’s the revolution going?” I asked.
They looked up from the images of death and devastation, smiling to the point of gloating. “We’re just waiting for the oppressed masses to rise up and riot,” they replied, earnestly.

ParticipantIMO this will affect maybe five of the 50 states. For most Americans the mortgage interest deduction is a non-issue … IIRC this was even proposed by George W. Bush’s own tax-reform panel back in ’05.
Of course California is a different story because of rampant excess “investment” in granite countertops and multi-story backyard palapas.
And someone has to pay for the obscenely expensive bailouts, jumbo conforming / jumbo FHA loans, and other programs designed to prop up high-end real estate prices.

ParticipantI’d raise hell. Not because I want the others to suffer, but because your employer should use free-market incentives (bonuses, extra time off, etc.) to get someone to take on the extra duties voluntarily.
