ParticipantI can say from personal experience that this class of home is definitely dropping in price in the uptown areas. I have been watching 3/1’s or 3/2’s in the uptown areas for the past few years, waiting for them to drop below 500k, and I am definitely seeing way more listings over the past month or so. It used to be that to hit the 500k threshold you needed to go east of the 805 or south of the 94, but I’m seeing quite a few pop up in nicer areas of NP/SP/NH/UH/MH under 500k in the past few weeks.
Yesterday a 3/2 at 3521 Mississippi a block from Morley Field came up for $475 and it is now gone from the listing… looks like someone grabbed it quick!
I’d like to hear urbanrealtor’s current thoughts on these areas.

things (mac version is the best to-do list software ever)
I absolutely love Things. It has boosted my productivity enormously. The only issue is having to pay for 3 (relatively expensive) versions. If you want full integration with all your devices, you’re talking $49.95 desktop + $9.99 iPhone + $19.99 iPad = $80 for what is essentially a glorified ToDo app. I ended up not buying the iPad version and just run the iPhone version blown up 2x. It’s ugly, but it works. I really wish they’d move syncing to over-the-air as well.
Runkeeper is also spectacular.

Participant
By the way, you ever considred that some (most) of the folks with BC plates driving $50,000 cars actually know English?
I’m sure many of them do. But I know from a family member who works at an expensive FV retailer that most of them don’t.
And I agree it completely depends on location. Spanish is probably fairly useless in Portland or Montana. But I’d also argue that knowing French could be beneficial in states that border the French-speaking states of Canada.
