ParticipantWhy does everything have to be so black & white? Left/Right, Dem/Repub, Liberal/Conservative, Capiatlist/Socialist, etc. If anything, history has taught us that the world is not black and white, but millions of subtle shades of gray.
Whoever says that capitalism “won” this past century must have forgotten the Great Depression, which was brought on by the greed and corruption that capitalism breeds. It took socialism to lift us out of those dark times. Capitalists tend to forget that.
Likewise, whoever says that socialism “won” this past century must have forgotten about the USSR, Cuba, etc..
Truth is, THEY ARE BOTH WRONG.
True historians see the fine line between two opposing ideals and realize that the beauty of life is finding the correct balance between the two. Different situations and variables cause the line to sway from side to side, like a pendulum over time. Sometimes it swings “left” and sometimes it swings “right” but the average is always somewhere in the middle.
The “capitalists” have had their run over the past 8-16 years with not much to show for it, so perhaps it’s time to try a different course to see where that takes us. If we find that that course doesn’t work so well, we’ll try something else.
The economy, and even the world and universe themselves have too many variables to boil down to a choice between two extremes. Don’t be so dense to limit your choices. Keep your options open. Don’t paint yourself into a corner. Because that corner will be the death of you.

ParticipantThe quality of Mexican food in the States is inversely proportional to the distance from San Diego.
All my SF buddies want me to try these “amazing” SF burritos, and they reminded me of the burritos they served in my middle school cafeteria. Blech!
Me and my wife always complain about living in San Diego, but as soon as we travel somewhere, no matter how amazing the destination is, we always look forward to coming back to SD.
