34f3f3fParticipantThanks for the link, but I was immediately struck by these three heading:
Hawaii foreclosures up 11/30/2007
Foreclosure rates level off 11/29/2007
Isle foreclosures continue to rise 11/29/2007
Seems to be a little confusion there:) Also, higher median house price and lower incomes that CA …and yet “home values still rising”? I’m skeptical …sorry.

34f3f3fParticipantHi Oshens. Thanks for the digging me out of the depths of Piggington’s database, and offering to help with questions on Hawaii. I had assumed that Hawaii is expensive. We don’t want to buy a home there, but rather are thinking of spending a couple of years there so we can enjoy more of the ocean outdoor life we crave, until house prices correct in California. I don’t need to look for a job, or be near schools. We have been to Hawaii and it seems to me the best place to be based to start with is Oahu. We’d like to be fairly near Honululu and on or near the coast. Hawaii Kai was recommended to me, and I have seen one or two favorably priced rentals. I guess my questions are what other comparable places would you recommend? If we can’t find anywhere around Hawai Kai, is the North Shore very isolated, and what about the other islands, in respect of amenities and entertainment? Can you recommend a shipping company? I have lots of questions but this probably isn’t the best place to ask them.
Just to keep things on topic, what is happening in the housing market in Hawaii?
