Here’s my list of other favorites:
Chateau St Michelle Eroica Reisling – I don’t drink whites that often so when I’m in the mood for one, I don’t want to be disappointed. Eroica never seems to let me down. You can find this at Costco and other places for less than $20.
Yealands Pinot Noir – I got this for $12 at winex.com earlier this year. Tons of fruit. Great nose. I wish it were a little less acidic but at $12, I can’t really complain.

If you are talking New York, Chambers street is excellent, though they specialize in old/odd and wine geek stuff. Scheiders of Capitol Hill and Calvert Woodley in DC are both good too. I’ve bought from all of them.

I don’t happen to like it, but I don’t poo-poo anyone who does.
SDR I too had to stop buying. I ran out of fridge and locker space. My garagiste shipment last week was 5 cases alone.
As to why some wineries build a following, I don’t think its because of the casual fan. Casual fans don’t fork over 500 dollars for Harlan, or Colgin, or Grand Cru burgundy. I think its because they make a consistantly excellent product and are very good at marketing its exclusivity and rarity.
Right now I’m focusing on buying older stuff. Dunn cabernets from teh mid 80’s, Barolos as well. I have just noticed that syrah has taken a beating in the marketplace and since there are many self proclaimed wine novices here, thats where its cheaper to start and still get good wine!
