ParticipantI see I’m getting some confirmation my tastes in low buck wines are not that far off.
1) Yellowtail: yes, I with you on the Shiraz being the best tasting variety that Yellowtail offers, especially at that Costco price. We go through a couple bottles of that Shiraz a week (four adults living in my home)
2) I completely agree that two buck Chuck is UNDRINKABLE
3) Thanks for the tip on the Blackstone White Label. I’ll have to try that.
4) Thanks also for the tip on the cameron hughes wines

ParticipantI’d say that Cameron Hughes is pretty consistent when it comes to uner 15 dollar wines. I also like Costco’s yearly foray into Shiraz. A large proportion of the other Kirkland label stuff is not really good value for money, especially the pinots.
As to a good relationship with a retailer, I actually agree with you sdr, I try to buy from Vintage for exactly that reason. On the other hand wine is a commodity. One who’s price has accelerated far faster than income growth.
Since I spend thousands a year on wine, I think it a good idea to ask others how and where they acquire the good stuff as it is expensive.
I haven’t seen Yellowtail offered here in Sydney once in two months! I have seen some posters for it.

ParticipantIf you want cheap and good, go to San Diego Wine Company. Prices are as good or better than Costco and you might find something there that you wont see at Von’s.
