September 2, 2010 at 8:43 AM #599199UCGalParticipantI credit the increase to back-to-school. I dropped a chunk at staples filling out the mandatory shopping list.
Target’s drop may be in part to a boycott from some in the left because of their political contributions in the wake of the Citizens United supreme court decision. (Target was the first big corp to make openly partison contributions in local races… )

(Note – I’m not trying to start a discussion of whether Target should/shouldn’t make political contributions and which partison side they should support… But I suspect the boycott was a factor in some of their retail sales.)
Disclaimer, I own Costco stock so any increase there is great. I’ve spent huge amounts of money at Target, as well. Probably my two biggest retailers I spend at.

Everytime I go to Costco..or the mall in San Diego I think to myself “what recession?”. On the weekends Costco is PACKED to the rafters. Even on the weekdays, when I try to go, it is crazy. I try to get in and out as fast as possible…the ‘snackers’ seriously piss me off /rant.
