    Disclaimer:

    I should mention that I rarely go out and eat on my own dime these days. a lot of these places I went in the past, or currently go when there is some business function/friends visiting/relative visiting etc.

    I don't regularly dine out, and I haven't sat down in a real real asian restaurant here for the past 2 months. Kinda difficult when you have young toddler.

    So the quality of said places might have changed for better or worse.

    Fook Yuen is ok but can’t compare to Koi Palace. Try it the next time in that area. About 10 minutes drive from Burlingame. Be prepared to wait but I would call ahead to get a number. They don’t take reservation but they do give you a number for calling ahead.

    If this is the place off of I280, I think your talking about the place I'm thinking, it's pretty good ( I can't tell the difference beyond a certain point).

    My simple criteria for a good dimsum place is simply places that can do a those daikon radish cakes right: hot, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Not many places do it right.

    Thanks all for the good advice also on Bay Area restaurants. We can tell you know your restaurants in the Bay Area.

    For example, yes, Koi Palace is totally at the top of our list of restaurants to try next. We had heard about that one from others also; it has one of the best reputations in the Bay Area. I have read what the yelpers have to say, all compliments.
