there's Taiwanese breakfast at Chin's? it is just the Miramar Chin's? very cool info…
Yes and yes. And if you frequently eat there, you can open a prepaid account there that gets you i think 20% off.
Ranch 99 is better than most Vietnamese supermarkets here in SD in terms of cleanliness. We like Zion Marketplace better (Korean supermarket). unfortunately that's not saying much… I guess as you guys go to Zion we end up in Marukai (japanese at Balboa). a new and clean 99 Ranch would capture back a lot of lost business.
The urban legend has it that there are some shady reasons why there aren't more chinese supermarkets here, but i don't know if those rumors are true.

May 16, 2008 at 10:27 PM #206327CoronitaParticipantNote to folks: not trying to generalize, BUT, chinese restaurants aren't exactly known for their cleanliness and customer service. Korean and Japanese restaurants though typically are.
I heard the above from my Japanese ex-mil as well as a Japanese coworker I used to have.
Flu and others, what's some good Japanese restaurants in SD then for when I'm out that way? I prefer Japanese over Chinese cuisine. I don't like Korean food except for the Pad Thai. That I really enjoy.
I like these threads because recommendations for good food are so important.
I use to eat a lot at Akai Hana in rancho bernardo
16769 Bernardo Center Dr # K11
San Diego, CA 92128Sushi is good. They have lunch dishes too, with the chilean sea bass pretty good.
Warning, it's not cheap.

May 16, 2008 at 10:39 PM #206347CoronitaParticipantI find that the nice fancy Asian restaurants are usually more Americanize, which is not very good.
At the risk of sounding like I have no taste, is it just me, or does anyone else feel like PF Changs taste like….. well….. crap?
Personally, I would never pay myself to go. But at work, people always want to go there for celebration events, etc. I'm trying to understand the fascination with the food there. Yes, I understand it fusion food. To me, it seems like everything that comes out of the kitchen tastes the same with the same sauce. Doesn't matter if you order beef, chicken, or pork. Second, it's extremely salty even for my chinese standards. Third, the seafood always seems like it's overcooked (scallops come to mind).
