What is this thing?

If it were a chair spring, then padding and covering would increase the size quite a bit in all dimensions.

Does seem small to me, also, honestly.
Was found in a kitchen drawer, though. Wierd.

The prior homeowner was a construction worker and I beleive he drove a back hoe. Perhaps it was some sort of removable padded backrest for his backhoe.
