Don Scott at coloradogold.com is one of the PM dealers I bought from in 05 and 06 when I was still in SD.
It’s a small shop but quite reliable and professional, sells at 6-8 above spot, which is pretty good.Monex in Newport Beach is a local source, they at least used to allow walk-ins. Prices were so-so.
Austin rare coins is a place I bought from as well and can recommend them, too – but I suggest to stay away from anything “numismatic”.
Buy Au/Ag just for the metal content plus a small premium for the minting – Maple Leafs, Philharmoniker, Krugerrands and bullion are my preferences.
Take care !

Coin Mart at 396 E Street. They have the largest selection in San Diego for gold, silver, and platinum coins. Their website is http://www.Coinmart.com.

November 14, 2011 at 2:42 PM #732928AnonymousGuestBanks don’t sell gold and silver coins here in the U.S. They don’t want competition to Federal Reserve Notes. I buy my gold and silver coins (American Eagles) from Buy Gold and Silver Safely as they only charge 1% over cost. Google them.

What’s your point Diego? I came across this article via a Google search and replied to it. Ben Stein, no relation, is a buffoon. Google Ben Stein’s article written October 2010: “Warren Buffett: Forget gold, buy stocks”
December 28, 2011 at 4:39 PM #735115AnonymousGuestIf you want to deal physical gold with a bank, jump accross the border… Mexican banks still deal in bullion. There’s a few good coin shops in San Diego. If you want good deals on gold coins see if http://www.sdgoldrefinery.com has any gold coins in stock.
