SD Realtor,
So so true. I see it all the time. Not just with homes but with other investments. Some people ride stocks all the way down to the pink sheets and still think their stock will some day come back. It rarely happens.
The funniest thing is the realtor.com listing says, “Motivated Seller – Make offer”. I got a good laugh from that. I guess they have been motivated to sell since 2008!

They kept going back/forth, up/down with price till it finally settled out 170k less than the original asking price.

Interesting UCGal. At least it appears that these sellers had the wherewithal to ride it out (they bought for $265k).

I’ve seen other sellers who clearly could not afford to sell below a certain price ride it down. The human psychology of loss aversion is fascinating to watch. It works in favor of the creditors who would lose much more if debtors were too quick to walk.
