Last year I went to a wedding at Rimrock Ranch near Pioneertown and fell in love with the area/lifestyle. Some modernist architecture combined with the rustic cabins felt like the best of both worlds. But I’d probably end up drinking my life away at Pappy & Harriets if I lived up there.

Of course being a vacation rental would make it more expensive, as some of the things that were previously just niceties would become absolute requirements (like the great view).
Big Bear was our first thought, just because of proximity to the other owners, who live in LA.
