Long live Phil Hendrie, the most talented and brilliant comedic talent I’ve ever heard on the airwaves.

August 23, 2007 at 1:59 AM #79652rankandfileParticipantI agree with sdrealtor. All other radio talk show hosts would need to climb up a 10ft ladder merely for the privilege to kiss the butt of Phil Hendrie. The body of his work on the radio is in another dimension altogether.

August 23, 2007 at 3:04 AM #79633CMcGParticipantAnother Hendrie fan here. I remember the first time I heard his show he had a “Spanish poet” on who supposedly was making a fortune selling romantic Spanish greeting cards and on the show he was giving people advice on what to write to their lovers. I understand Spanish and he was saying stuff like, “My love, your ass is bigger than this earth.” I didn’t get that it was a farce at first until enraged Spanish speakers called in. Then I laughed my earth-sized ass off.
I have to listen to KOGO first thing in the morning because that’s all that we can get clearly in the bedroom. Commuting, I listen to Handel in the morning and John and Ken in the afternoon (both KFI).

August 23, 2007 at 9:03 AM #79602NavydocParticipantThe one thing I will miss the most when I leave LA is the radio. Catch Handel every am and on Saturdys on KFI, Michael Medved in the afternoons on 870, John and Ken on KFI or Savage on 830, if he’s not too ridiculous. Havn’t heard Hendri in awhile, is he still on KOGO? I can get KOGO in clearly up here, 760 not so much.

Lloyd Bonafide. Oh one guy I loved who was always the expert on gay issues, Doug Dannger, a gay man and a gay journalist. That guy used to kill me, announcing his gayness at the beginning of every statement. Meanwhile the caller who is clearly upset about something Doug said having “nothing to do” with gayness, gets ticked.
Oh Rudy, the latin guy, who does the La-La-La. Hendrie was bold, I remember once Rudy was supposedly a “GOP consultant”, who started talking about his prowess with the la-la-la. An Angry black woman calls in and he says, she is bitter because her man probably doesn’t do the la-la-la…. (old military joke was you’d lose your brother card).
I about crashed my car one night in WV between Ohio and Raleigh when Bobbie (and Steve) had an 8th grade graduation party, and only allowed the kids to have “sex” if it was in the open. Also Steve jumping out of the hot tub naked, waist down to announce “the cobra is out of the cage”. Hey they were hip parents, and it was all fun. MMMMMM-HMMMMMMM, MMMMMM-HMMMMMM.
Other than that I like Savage once in a while and coast to coast on late night trips.
