Look for electrical outlet on an outside wall. Remove it and look in there.
My friend’s early 70s stucco house in Huntington Beach has no insulation whatsoever. Got central AC installed and it’s good enough for the beach area.
We’ve come a long way since then. Passive houses with solar roofs will be next. Solar will be designed into the architecture rather than an afterthought.

Won’t tell you how good the insulation is just whether it’s there or not.
P.S.- to flu’s point yes, I have one of those, mine has a somewhat big head, doesn’t always fit into holes. I was thinking more of a device like a stud finder would be cool.
