Very Uncool Landlord-secret selling

Check the narrative of this MLS listing “Tennants are unaware house is being sold.”

The address is listed, I’m thinking of printing this and mailing it to the tennants. How do they possibly think they can sell it without telling the tennant, wouldn’t the buyer want to see the inside, aren’t there inspections required?

And people wonder where this distrust of Landlords or Realtors comes from.

TG is right. The landlord is a jerk and I am sure what he sends out will come back to him in a kharmic kind of way.

Your lease probably gives the owner the right to sell, list, and open house your rental. It is not that uncommon.

By law, you are entitled to “peaceful enjoyment” of your rental. This may be a term you may want to start quoting to your landlord and landlord’s agent.

Why would the tenant care or even need to know that the house is being sold?

If you live in an apartment, do you expect to be notified when the complex you’re in is sold to a different company?

Because the new owner will still keep renting the apartments, the buyer of a house may want to live in it, why would the owner not want the renter to know? because then the renter will make plans for their own life and they may move to a place that they can continue renting and the landlord wont be able to rent a place for sale to a new tennant or at least they wont be able to for full rent. The owner is trying to squeeze every last dollar from the tennant and the tennant will have to move on short notice. Legally it’s O.K. but the right thing to do would be to inform the tennant and allow them to make their own decision, stay till the last minute or find something more stable. I can’t entirely blame the landlord, that genius paid 525k for a place that likely rents for 2k and even if it sells for ask, it’s a 175k loss in 2 years, nice work. Desperation makes buttheads out of even good people. There are a couple of NOD’s on that street, kharma will have her way, my guess is that is one of them.
