I passed through Vancouver maybe 5-6 years ago on a drive vacation though the Canadian Rockies.
Did not spend much time in Vancouver but the drive through the Canadian Rockies I would highly recommend.
Spent about a week (if I remember) but wish we could have taken longer.
Also buying stuff in costco even then was like 20% cheaper in Canada.
Lot a fun but sorry no plans to move to Canada just yet.
Maybe AN said it, St-George – nice place to visit.

EP has some nice rentals in SG for you
They’re creating miles of hiking and biking trails around me too. They have plans to keep on adding more for the next couple of decades. They also have plans for bike path from Oceanside to the border, along the 5 with ocean view.October 20, 2022 at 5:03 PM #826859sdrealtorParticipantThey recently opened it between Cardiff and Solana Beach
October 21, 2022 at 12:28 AM #826860scaredyclassicParticipantHaven’t seen it yet. But ridden from Oceanside to downtown several times, and though beautiful it’s shitty for bikes. Car centric. And the cars are filled with ASSHOLES
I’ve walked all over Vancouver the last couple weeks. I have not once had ANYONE cut in front of me fast while crossing the street. In CA, I walk a lot, much more than a normal human, and my overwhelming experience is that it is NORMAL for motorists to find pedestrians an annoyance and to swerve right, a bit ahead of where you’re crossing.
People in the USA I think truly do not give a shit about their fellow citizens. Can’t speak for Canada but the motorists are obeying rules and seem not insanely impatient.
Also murder rate per capita in USA is 3x Canada.

Life is short, why are you living in misery?

October 21, 2022 at 5:25 PM #826863flyerParticipantscaredy, you may very well be correct about all of the things that bother you, but the odds of changing those things in our lifetimes are probably slim to none, so, why not, just do whatever it is you want to do, and enjoy the time you have left on earth. That’s what we do, and it’s always worked out well. Live the life you want to live.

Good point. My wife concurs. Still, I’m crabby.
October 22, 2022 at 7:24 AM #826865JPJonesParticipant
Go for a walk around the lakes in Whistler. Gorgeous paths near lake. No fences. No dogs barking wildly.
Go for a walk in the USA. No beach access. Private property. Fences. Dogs that want to eat you. Owners armed to the fucking teeth watching Fox fucking news. Calling the cops because why the fuck are you walking around, near their houses, anyway. Very suspicious.
I think I might actually need to retire out of the USA.
Eh. Air travel sucks and we can just drive up to Mammoth. It sounds like all of your gripes would be addressed by moving to NorCal.
Unless that is you aren’t happy unless you have lots to complain about, in which case you’d best stay put. 😉

I agree that air travel is terrible. However, Google Whistler and Alpine hiking. They have world class gondolas. This is world class shit, not mammoth. The 2010 Olympics were there. I despise planes and actually going anywhere, but this was worth it.
Also I feel better today. But I still contend so cal drivers are generally disdainful of anything in their way
