Hi everybody, I have lived in San Diego for a while, but am somewhat new to the San Diego real estate scene. My question is, in this city, and this market, is it still a good idea in not having an agent going into a house, and simply going with the listing agent? I realize that using this strategy might gain me favor in getting the property I want and possibly for a few sheckles less to boot.
I do not need an agent to find me houses, I feel pretty savvy with the internet to do all that. I just want to know how the San Diego market works.
If it is relevant, the areas that I am looking are North Park, South Park, Serra Mesa, Kensington and my ceiling is let’s say 450k which seems like the low end (right now) of decent detached homes in decent parts of these areas.
The problem with going with a listing agent is that he is going to push as hard as he can for the highest price – since his first loyalty is to his client. You might want to consider using Redfin.com just to have someone on your side of the table….
Personally, if I were going to have representation, I would use SD Realtor – Adam Rappaport. He posts here often and has given a ton of good info over the months and years.
