ParticipantFirst you have to throw out the stuff in the back of fridge that has been there > 1 year else you may get sick.
Then you have to donate the stuff that no longer fits.
Then you can start IMO.

I will be throwing out some things from the fridge, but I intend to take a few calculated risks.
All my clothes fit. I am very strict about my waist measurement. It is never permitted to exceed my clothing. My clothes have occasionally gotten tight, but that to me is an urgent situation. I am way too cheap to buy new clothes simply for fat.
But how did I get so many suits????!!!
They pile up. I buy them in little spurts and rarely discard. Usually a hole triggers a discard…occasionally a hatred of the suit. Some feel worse than others.
I use underwear till shredded but buy when I see a deal. I currently have therefore 1.7 remaining lifetimes of underwear, although some is shameful…I never toss a pair of underwear until the holes impair utility.

I’m very curious to hear what t shirt you want to buy despite being in purge mode.

GuestWhat did Mari Kondo affect your life?
My apartment is very clutter free.
I don’t buy expensive cothes anymore. Fast casual H&M works for me. They are cheap but look good. You don’t feel bad getting rid of cheap clothes.

ParticipantFIH – it’s better for Mother Gaia to own quality clothes that last years, not throw stuff that falls apart after a year away.

Wait. I’m also really wanting a nose hair trimmer.
Is that ok for the planet?

ParticipantEven your underwear? How about socks? Man I don’t want to be within the blast/smell radius of you.

Josh[/quote]Laundry removes smell even in old clothing.
If we wore out everything, including socks and underwear, we would each be wealthier, and the planet would be better off.
Underwear should last many years

ParticipantOnly buy stuff sourced and manufactured locally.
Container ships produce more green house gas than all the auto’s of the world.
It does little good to but an electric (what ever transport ) if it is shipped here on a container ship.

GuestShoveler, in an efficient market, all costs are already reflected in the price.

That’s how my mom does it and she taught us well. Unfortunately my brother has eaten too much comfort food his Kentucky wife cooked for him.

Globalization causes global warming.
It is a fact not a political statement.
