I think that the Chinese are buying Trump lock stock and barrel. My Chinese friends all think that it’s no coincidence that China awarded Trump the trademarks right after he reaffirmed the One China policy. Trump has to potential to make billions in China.
China and Russia are working to create an American oligarchy to undermine western democracy. What better to obviate the aspirational superiority of the western order? That’s what I would do if I were Putin or Xi.
May 1, 2017 at 3:22 PM #806418AnonymousGuestTime for an actual prediction on this thread:
Trump won’t finish his first term.
Most likely he’ll resign, with a small chance that he could be removed. Of course it will be someone else’s and everyone else’s fault.
I suspect he already hates his new job (the first job he’s ever had…) and he will definitely will not stick it out four years.
May 1, 2017 at 8:02 PM #806419FlyerInHiGuestTrump won’t resign. Why would he?
I predict that during Trump’s term China’s GDP will overtake the US’. When that happens everything in China will be bigger and the opportunities to make money greater.
For all his China bashing, Trump may become the first foreign billionaire in China, with his kids becoming princelings. Depending what Trump does for China, he will be awarded a profitable franchise. A small price for China to buy the American Republican establishment, grow the economy at the same time, and take over the capitalist international institutions that the USA built after WWII.
China already gave Trump and Ivanka trademarks and copyrights. Think it’s coincidence?Trump already promised China better trade deals without anything in return.
China made an announcement on coal, but they already bought the allotment for the year from North Korea. Stupid republicans who don’t know policy, like Nikki Haley, said that China is selling coal, but it’s the opposite. And Trump’s low IQ base in the dying industrial Midwest will get screwed. Serves them right.
China’s rise is happening faster than previously predicted. It was supported to happens only in near 2030.

Because the presidency was just a bucket list thing for him.
Because it’s a really hard job, one that you cannot escape with a vacation.
Because he truly believed his own promises, that things that were so difficult for previous presidents would be so easy for him.
And because he needs praise. Every day he struggles he’ll receive less of it. The media bubble he has created for himself will shrink.
He has no real passion for serving the public, or for any policy agenda. He thought the job would be fun as he effortlessly made great historical accomplishments. He won’t put in the effort to see it though.
He’ll lose interest, and do a Sarah Palin.

Ummmm… I’m pretty sure he’s already had a number of vacations where he spends his day playing golf at Mar-A-Lago.
May 2, 2017 at 1:12 AM #806422FlyerInHiGuestIf Trump gets impeached, he will fight til the end.
America won’t put a president in jail. Plus Pence will pardon him.Trump already made the biggest gift to China will the cancellation of TPP. All the Pacific countries are groveling to Beijing because the USA is unreliable and made them waste years negotiating TPP. With the renegotiation of NAFTA, Canada already sent a high level delegation to China. Canada and Mexico will seek to diversify away from the US.
Trump didn’t go to Davos, but Xi did, so suddenly China is the leader in free trade.
China will continue to make overture to Trump and dribble business opportunities to his family. He can’t resist. The Trump brand could easily grace 100 skyscrapers in China in a few years — licensing to Trump that more than pays for itself in geopolitical benefits for china.
Sure, Trump has no interest in public service. It’s all about him and his ego. He wants to win so resigning willingly is out of the question.

Yup, and the job and its massive responsibilities are still there when the round of golf is over.
It’s already obvious that he’s neglecting the work. He’s given up on health care, is not making any effort to lead on the budget.
He’s trying so score an easy win with North Korea. There’s a small chance he’ll start something disastrous there, but otherwise the outcome will be status quo.
He’s going to grow weary of constantly having to justify his failures and eventually decide to play golf full time.

I think you’re overestimating his qualifications. He hasn’t given up on those things. He was never qualified to lead on them in the first place. He doesn’t understand how any of it works. He’s used to telling others what to do, and they do it. “Hey you, build a building”.
He’s not smart enough to learn how it works. It would require first that he become a competent reader. He’s proven that 8th grade history books are above his capabilities.
So he’s left it to people like Brian, who think that all health care issues are related to personal choices. Fortunately, there are probably enough voters who have had, or can empathize with parents who have had sick children.
Those that think somehow he’ll be pardoned, keep your eye on the NY AG. President can’t issue pardons for state crimes.
May 2, 2017 at 8:06 AM #806425AnonymousGuestSmart or not smart, what matters is that he’s intellectually lazy.
Three months in, and he’s not even trying anymore.
He’s just throwing out random ideas in order to look like he’s got a plan.
The latest “idea” is a gas tax. WTF?
May 2, 2017 at 9:53 AM #806426FlyerInHiGuestSK. for what it’s worth, I support universal health care with the goal of better health for the population. But I won’t fight for it.
I have no sympathy for the working class Trump base who cling on to their failing culture. Let them suffer the consequences of Trump so they may learn. No need to protect the ingrates.

So screw the kids born with congenital heart defects, T1 diabetes, CP and other diseases that will make them effectively uninsurable if the current repeal/replace bill passes? Were those “lifestyle choices” also that you feel no need to protect?
May 3, 2017 at 8:43 AM #806432FlyerInHiGuestSK, what Im saying is that Trump voters don’t appreciate what Democrats have done for them. They’d rather cling to their “failing” culture as Trump would say. So let them experience Trump policies.
And if an ObamaCare repeal affects non-Trump voters. Then they’ll work harder to elect people who will protect them.

The latest “idea” is a gas tax. WTF?
So while we go WTF, why do you think Trump’s base is so solidly behind him?
Maybe those voters are woefully ignorant of policy and have IQs of potted plants (I stole this line from spdrun).I think this article sheds some light.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/wp/2017/04/20/working-class-whites-cant-handle-their-status-as-the-new-minority/?hpid=hp_no-name_opinion-card-d%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.2bbda7e196d2June 6, 2017 at 7:51 AM #806851zkParticipant

I do like his $1 trillion infrastructure spending, however.
I do, too, depending on how it’s done.
If taxpayers pay private contractors, and those private contractors make $500 million in profits and pay minimum wage to all the workers, that won’t be so good.
If we’re able to pay a living wage to all the workers, that would put a lot more money into the economy (while fixing the infrastructure).
Just as I suspected. Well, no, not exactly. Worse than I suspected:
Epic stupidity.
