There is an Apocalypse Now nightclub in Ho Chi Minh city and a heart of darkness nightclub in Phnom Penh. Highly recommended. More fun than any nightclub in usa. I have been many times when I was younger.

I’m definitely putting this on my list of things to watch. I haven’t seen Apocalypse Now for 10 or 15 years. Do you think it would be better to watch Hearts of Darkness first and then Apocalypse Now again, or the other way around?

Understandable, it wasn’t Brando’s best performance. But you have to admit that Dennis Hopper’s character was awesome.

Hopefully America feels the same, and cannot vote for a buffoon who believes he is tougher than mattis.
If trump, a fat whiner, thinks hes tougher than mad dog mattis, by implication a man like trump is tougher than all u.s. troops. Since I believe most civilians alive are tougher than trump, I read trump as saying then that most any civilian I’d tougher than any u.s. troop.

I think if you are familiar enough with the Apocalypse Now, you could just watch the documentary.
October 19, 2019 at 9:28 AM #813820scaredyclassicParticipantWhat is toughness? Not the ability to do harm.
tough·ness
noun
1.
the state of being strong enough to withstand adverse conditions or rough handling.
“the toughness of steel”
2.
the ability to deal with hardship or to cope in difficult situations.
“they showed great mental toughness to keep going”.Trump fails.
trump seems less tough than most little girls I’ve known.
Yeah, lots of little girls get teased and called names and maybe bullied. They get pressure from their parents and pressure from their peers. They are subject to adverse conditions regularly. And most of them take it much better than trump does. Most of them learn and move on. Not our president, though. Nope. He whines and complains and lashes out and acts out. He attacks and he lies and he makes things up about people and he blames everybody else but himself for everything.
trump is way less tough than most little girls.

Americas range of toughness invariably veers toward bellicosity.

“Dont be a tough guy, dont be a fool!”
Trump to erdogan
yeah and Americans have no long term endurance. it’s sports culture that values getting a trophy, juicing to gain the strength to win the prize, but dismissing people who develop healthy life long habits but never win prizes. To me, the guy who has his moment of glory, but then falls apart is no hero. The real tough ones are people who develop impulse control and plug along, against adversity for a long, long time.
Everyone (well, nearly everyone) was ready to go to war in Iraq, but now everyone disowns that terrible decision. I remember, back in 2001, I felt like one of the lone voices opposing the war, lest I be called traitor for not wanting to go kick Muslim ass. Of course, now, no apology from the people who supported the war.
All those heroes of war, including Mattis, they wouldn’t exist had there been no war in Iraq.

Look at the Romans with their Colosseums.
They had sporting events for every season to keep the plebs occupied, to satisfy the masses, to distract from the important topics of the day.
Same with America today.
Been the same for millenniums.
