    We have some rats … Pretty common around here. Last night was a heavy trap setting day, hard work, tight crawl spaces. I’ve caught a couple over the last month w a few traps. But I went all out. Thirty traps or so all over. I enjoy trapping rats… not having them, but setting traps . Caught one. We heard the catch when we went to bed. In the morning the kill was quite odd. His body was firmly planted on a glue trap but his neck was in a snap trap. Now the reason it matters is my wife says glue traps are completely stupid and ineffective. We were trying to come up with a forensic re-creation of the kill , she trying to discredit the glue trap me trying to attribute at least part of the killto The gue trap. Could he have gotten glued then struggled over for a final dose of peanut butter? Or snapped and then to the glue reap. His belly was on the glue trap but can’t recall the trap placement.

    We need to seal up the house but can’t find the outside holes. We need a professional.

    Why give a professional the fun? You are doing fine. I also hate glue traps. I live up against the cleveland national forest and with a few traps and some vigilance have kept the rat problem down to practically nothing. Once you make a big dent in the population it’s fine. Usually if a rat breeds you can catch all the offspring in quick order. They will climb over each other to get killed in an available trap baited with peanut butter and a dog food kibble.

    Check under the hood of your cars often, they will nest in there for warmth and travel all over town too…chewing up your wiring and insulation and stuff.

    I’m not a big fan of the glue traps either.
    Our construction then getting a dog was a good way to remove the rats who lived on our lot. They used to run along our fence line and had a nest behind our shed. Shed was removed as it was in the path of heavy grading equipment… now we have a dog who LOVES to sniff out stuff… haven’t seen a single rat since we got the dog.

    I once opened my glove compartment while driving and thought I’d seen an alien. I was a nest of brand new squirmy pink mice!

    We need to cut down a palm tree that is giving easy roof access. The former owner should not have put that tree there

    we have 3 cats and a dog but their performance is less hhan satisfactory.

    I predict I will be fighting rats on and off the remainder ov my days …

    I believe the glue traps send a message to the rat community
