In terms of pure APIs and SATs, Torrey Pines High is usually ahead. In APIs the difference is usually small, in SATs there’s no competition, Torrey Pines is consistently #1 public school in the county (but it’s still way behind private schools like LJCDS).
Also, rankings are going to change soon, because Del Norte High is supposed to open this fall and that’s going to result in reshuffling of students among schools. PUSD web site already has new maps which show Santaluz, Del Sur and 4S assigned to Del Norte. I’m not sure what the situation right now but Santaluz students probably have an option to attend Westview (it’s only logical, Westview is much closer to Santaluz than Mt Carmel). With Santaluz out and parts of old Penasquitos in, API rankings are going to drop 20+ points in a blink of an eye.
