I keep imagining what would happen if this was the zombie virus.
February 7, 2020 at 4:07 PM #814660CoronitaParticipantit’s more than 500 deaths in China.

The are rampant rumors that the dead in Wuhan are being sent to crematoriums that are running 24/7. Not sure I entirely believe this, but hey, who knows the real info at this point…
Apparently smog in Wuhan is terrible right now despite all factories fully shut and no traffic on the road. In addition to crematoriums running 24/7, there’s also report of open field large bonfire in the middle of the city plaza burning in the middle of the night.

it’s more than 500 deaths in China.
NPR had a segment on how a family of 5 all had Coronavirus like symptoms, but only one was officially counted.
Actual death count likely 10 times the official count.
February 7, 2020 at 11:48 PM #814663MyriadParticipantI would certainly believe 10x the official # of dead. At least it would be match the level of response of quarantining 60M people. I’m sure someone smart is figuring out how many people have died if crematoriums are running 24/7.

Agree. Except we don’t really know what they are burning with those bonfires.

From Taiwanese media, sorry, no translation.
Hubei crematoriums working non-stop since Lunar New Year. Interview of one crematorium:
—daily average ntake of 127 bodies, cremation of up to 316 bodies per day.
—volume up to 4-5 times the norm.
—workers getting only 3 hours sleep time per day.
—another crematorium has larger capacity at 576 bodies per day.
—some deceased are waiting up to a week for cremation due to capacity issues.February 8, 2020 at 7:36 PM #814667CoronitaParticipantJust about every Chinese person in Taiwan and China knows what’s going on with the official numbers versus reported numbers because this is what the PRC government does and we are use to it.
February 8, 2020 at 8:09 PM #814668ocrenterParticipantThe corona virus epidemic shows the PRC is rotten to the core. There are real structural issues inherent with the top down authoritarian system that’s preventing reform. Remember Xi came in as a reformer, but the stagflation of the last few years and deep seated problems with the SOEs trapped him into this downward spiral of progressive totalitarianism and movement to full Nazi mode.
China ultimately needs to be broken up into multiple smaller states that can evolve and democratize much like S Korea and Taiwan. Eventually when timing is right these smaller countries can come together much like the EU.

Remember there has been dramatic reduction of vehicular traffic and all of the factories are shut down.
I’ll let you guys come to your own conclusion on what kind of organic matter are being burned in these large firepits in the center of Wuhan city and Chongqing.

You were wrong on the Chinese economy before. As someone else here may say: once you’re wrong about money, you have no credibility. Just joking…. however, I think you’re too hell bent on seeing China fail. I don’t have a dog in the race, and if China does some things well, I can admire their accomplishments and wish we’d learn. China has ambitions just like us, and I don’t fault them for having them.
I’m not pro China. I am pro success and accomplishments, even when they’re not our own.
