What brand would you choose?

1.6 gallon flush or 1.28? Some new one are 1 gallon flush.

I like the Kohler Persuade because it looks nice and streamlined.

It’s for a rental at a condo so not directly paying for water (but still I believe in conservation) I’m thinking about the American Standard Champion 1.6 gallon that can flush a bucket of golf balls. Don’t want tenants to call me about clogged toilet.

I have a friend who is good remodeler. He swears by Toto and said I need to spend $350 for a Toto.

Is this an apartment building with a roof tank? If so, does the plumbing system have enough capacity for a flush-o-meter/tankless toilet?

Never seen a building with a rooftop tank out west. I know they exist in NY.

I bought one of those complicated power flush and I think It was a Toto. When I got it home and opened it , it just looked like there was way to much to go wrong. The BMW of toilets?

I took it back and judging by the candy wrapper in the box I wasn’t the first one.
Dixieline gave me a $40 credit because it had been restocked!

I went with 3 of the 1.6 gallon totos but they weren’t $350 models. Can’t remember how much but $150-$160 sounds about right $200 tops. I have had to adjust one of the flappers and a handle squeaks , but that’s it in 8 years. They work fine and still look like new. Get the tall ones. 17″ I think.

Golf balls are discrete small objects, easy to flush. Give it a real test, take one of those bagel energy bars and see if it an flush that after a 5 minute soak.

I have drake and ultramax models. In about 10.5 years I haven’t had to repair , except for one flapper change in the ultramax. I bought them from Dixieline, but now the prices are lot cheaper in amazon. The last Drake model I bought was about 260 for an ada/elongated version w/ sanagloss coating. IMO toto has an upfront cost, but in the long run they function and maintain well. There might be water rebates that can bring the cost lower, or atleast cover for the addons like ada/softcover seat etc.

We bought the one that can flush a bucket of golf balls. No problems in the 3+ years we’ve owned it, and it’s never clogged on us while our other toilets have gotten stopped up.

Since it’s a rental and you really don’t want renters to call you in the middle of the night to unclog the toilet, go for the toilet that will flush everything down nearly every single time. You won’t regret it.
