I don’t want to live in a country where 40 million do not have health care, and in 10 years 60 million do not have health care. I do not want to live in a country where social unrest breeds do to increasing numbers of disaffected people, without health care, and without adequate work/pay to put a roof over their head.
I believe we can do better, and with this bill, I believe we are going to do better. I have health insurance/health care, and I want everyone in this country to also have health care.
40 million people don’t have health care, or do they just not have insurance?
Do you consider visits to the ER comprehensive health care? I don’t. I call it expensive, inefficient, and ineffective at keeping a society healthy.

March 23, 2010 at 12:50 PM #529746IrishParticipantLike so many have said before, this bill, although far from perfect is a step in the right direction for this country. I am glad it is now signed into law. It is significant, historic legislation on a par with the passing of Medicare for seniors and the disabled…that happened over 40 years ago ! Now we must keep pushing for the next step and that is “single payer” health care paid for by the state or the federal government which should work just like Medicare does. Let’s eliminate the powerful, Insurance Industry Business from health care.
For all of you doom-sayers and angry tea-bagger types, suck it up ! YOU LOST !!
As with hysterical children, there’s no point in trying to reason with you and I don’t know why Obama and the Democratic congress even tried.
It’s hard, but we will drag all you self-centered, scared, hysterical, immature, nay-saying bullies into the 21st century whether you like it or not ! And if you really don’t like it then do as your Messiah, Rush Limbawgh says he’s going to do…LEAVE and don’t let the screen door hit you on the ass on the way out !Woo hoo…let me gloat some more ! Score a very big one for Obama !

I am sad that as a family you all can’t get it together to take care of each other.
This bill is not about fiscal responsibility or the common good. The bill is about increasing corporate profit at taxpayer expense. It is the health care industry’s version of the Wall Street bailout. It lavishes hundreds of billions in government subsidies on insurance and drug companies.
Thank you. Can we pleeeeaase stop calling this a healthCARE bill. It is INSURANCE.
While ideally this country should provide healthCARE for its citizens, as they do in Europe or Canada, this bill is NOT like what those countries have. People in Canada and Europe are not forced to buy insurance. Sure. They probably pay for it through taxes. BUT, they are not paying an insurance company! Insurance companies are private business entities for PROFIT.
This just frustrates the hell out of me. That’s what should be discussed, how we have a middleman (insurance companies) assisted by our government to enforce purchase so they can provide healthcare. We won’t even address what kind of healthcare you will get. That’s a whole other issue.
